The
secret to a beautiful smile lies beyond just your teeth.
Your gums and underlying bone provide essential support
for your teeth. It is a sad fact that around 10% of
the adult population suffers from advanced gum problems
that will lead to the loosening and loss of their teeth.
Unfortunately the symptoms of gum disease are, as a
patient, hard to notice (Click
for more information www.bsperio.org.uk).
Regular visit’s to your
dentist and hygienist will mean that the first symptoms
of advanced gum disease can be spotted and treated.
Our hygienist team can see you regularly to ensure
that your gums remain healthy, any staining (from tea,
coffee, red wine or smoking) can be removed gently
with Air Flow non abrasive powder and water technique.
Some aspects of gum disease can lead to bad taste
and bad breath and our hygienist team can treat the
underlying problem and advise you on regular routine
home care to prevent this problem from ruining your
life.
Prevention is better than cure and we recommend that
you see your dentist in our dental team every six months
and your hygienist from our hygiene team every three
months.
Our recommendations
for your daily home care routine are:-
- Brush for 2 minutes twice
daily, preferably with an electric/ultrasonic toothbrush.
- Use dental tape / floss once a
day .
- Use either a Fluoride or antiseptic
mouth rinse once daily.
- Use Tepe/interproximal brushes
as directed once daily
